untitled
This painting, Untitled, was part of my MFA Thesis Exhibition titled, Junkyard Silence. Junkyard Silence was an in-depth description and conversation about growing up in a family that turned the entire cheek to the needs and desires of the women in my family. I discuss how the secrecy around domestic violence and drug addictions created what felt like a never ending manic mother who was on time for work, but reckless in her personal life. No one ever talked about my grandmother's undiagnosed depression. I know my grandmother died a sad woman and this kind of knowing, this kind of pain, is documented in this painting.
