Mya Roach

Mya is a 22 year old black artist from Detroit who has a deep love for making art about space, horror and themselves. They obtained their BFA for illustration from CCAD and are trying their best to find their place in the art world.

For this piece I wanted to portray how knowing how horrid the past was as a black person is haunting. It isn’t something I can just read about and let go of. It actually happened and it lives inside of me forever which makes me feel powerless because there is no changing the past.
