Statement

I paint figures in a representational style, using acrylic paints on canvas and paper. Through my art, I strive to capture the essence of the human form by incorporating light, color, textures, patterns, and energy to convey the beliefs, purposes, and aspirations of Black communities. By infusing my paintings with emotional depth, I seek to inspire endurance, resistance, and pride in the beings that inhabit my work.

My creative drive stems from a deep-rooted desire to celebrate the human connection with past and present heroes who have uplifted us, as well as those whose lives have been sacrificed in the pursuit of being fully alive. Through my art, I aim to convey the resilience and determination of individuals striving towards their goals and defining their identity.

Influenced by the enduring spiritual awareness of the African Diaspora's memory of a distant homeland and the lived experiences of the present, I infuse my work with themes of joy, hope, music, dance, and a vision for a divine plan. Through the juxtaposition of these elements, I seek to create a visual narrative that resonates with viewers and inspires a sense of connection and empowerment.
