StatementVisual art creates a profound dialogue between the artist and the viewer. My current work focuses on amplifying the female voice, capturing the diverse ways women express themselves—loud, subtle, exuberant, and creative. “Our Lips are Unzipped, We Have Something to Say” illustrates this variety using simple shapes and literal zippers to convey how women communicate their thoughts and experiences. "Mom’s Puzzles” shares a personal story of my mother and her battle with dementia. Crossword puzzles brought her joy and kept her mind sharp. Incorporating pages from her puzzle books, this piece reflects our intimate conversations and how I remember her. My art is amplified through recycled and donated materials, honoring the past and breathing new life into the discarded. This approach underscore's themes of resilience, memory, and the enduring power of women's voices.
